Welcome to the Freshman Center Website!

FAQ's of the Freshman Center:

1.  When does my student receive his/her report cards?  Student report cards are mailed home at the end of each 9 week grading period.  Semester grades are included on the 2nd and 4th nine-week report cards.  If you have any questions about your student's grades or do not receive them in the mail, you can contact the guidance office for a copy.

    2. How do I find out my student’s grades? Students may request a copy of their progress report in the guidance office or you may visit  Infinite Campus, located on the sidebar of this page, under "Other Links". Information to access this was sent through the mail in December.

    3. When are parent-teacher conferences, to discuss my child’s progress? Once each semester, PCHS schedules a parent-teacher conference following school hours. Additional Parent-Teacher conferences are coordinated through the guidance office.  Parents may call 606-678-5874 to schedule an appointment.

    4. What are the different types of diplomas and graduation requirements? There are three types of graduation diplomas; Standard, Comprehensive, and Commonwealth.  Please contact the Guidance Office at 606-678-5874 for details on the different requirements for each diploma.

    5. What if my student needs to have medications at school (over the counter or prescription)? Prescription medications shall be administered only as prescribed on the medical provider’s written authorization form.  A completed authorization form must be on file at the school before medication can be given.  This form can be obtained at any school. Prescription medications shall be brought to school by the parent/guardian and must be taken to the school nurse's office.  Prescription meds must be in their original bottle with the doctor's orders.  The nurse will contact the parent for more information. Students are not allowed to carry any medications with them except for inhalers and epi pens. The nurse maintains a supply of common over the counter medications to be given to students.  These medications are only given after she assesses and examines the student.

    6. Who do I contact regarding Bus Transportation issues? Contact Wayne Bennett, Transportation Director at Central Office 606-679-1123.

    7. What is Plan B? Buses will not travel unsafe, snow covered, or icy roads. Bus drivers will tell students where they will be picked up and dropped off when Plan B is in effect. Please make sure you and your child know the designated Plan B pick-up and drop-off location. Our drivers will attempt to maintain their time schedule but flexibility and cooperation will be key in making Plan B successful. Under Plan B, schools may begin at the regular time or they may be on a delayed time schedule. Listen to the media outlets for information about the time schedule and other information under Plan B. Schools will be dismissed at the regular time.

8.     What if my student needs tutoring? Sometimes students need a little extra help in learning a concept or a new subject. They will first receive a warning and the phone will be confiscated, and returned to the student after the first afternoon bell. The second time the cell phone is confiscated, the parents will have to pick it up. The third, phone will not be returned for 10 school days, and the fourth time, the phone will be taken for the remainder of the school year.

Tardies before 8:51 are considered truancy and discipline issues and require that a parent be reached to verify the note prior to 8:50.  Students are allowed five parent notes per semester.  Tardies to school and early dismissals are included in the five per semester.
