Parents, help your teens become better and safer drivers through our FREE 4-hour Teen Driver Challenge. This is a hands-on course designed to give teens the experience they need to drive safely under the supervision and training of Pulaski County Sheriff's Office staff. This course is offered to students with a valid learner’s permit (6 months' experience required) or valid operator’s license. Licensed student drivers will need to bring their automobile to the driving class. Parents will not be allowed to stay during training.

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office Teen Driver Challenge (TDC) was created to address the primary factors affecting teen drivers – speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, texting while driving and distracted driving. The program is offered at no cost to teen drivers in Pulaski County and led by sheriffs’ deputies.

How much is this program needed? According to the Centers for Disease Control’s Motor Vehicle Safety division, motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among teenagers. Roughly 25 to 30 percent of teen drivers will be involved in a crash within the first 12 months of getting their operator’s license. The Teen Driver Challenge was created to help prevent Pulaski County teens from becoming a statistic.

"Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for persons between the ages of 15 and 21"

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration

Upon completion of the course, drivers will receive a certificate to present to their auto insurance company for potential policy discounts.
